Pakistan Army, in a special rescue operation, retrieved remaining 23 bodies of miners from under a landslide in Sput Mali area of Kohistan.

According to ISPR release here on Friday, 24 persons were buried alive under the landslide when they were exploring mines and precious stones in the mountainous region 35 km east of Dassu.

Pakistan Army immediately dispatched a rescue party comprising infantry troops, army engineers and doctors with helicopters to recover bodies of the miners. Army troops were also assisted by locals in the rescue operation.

One body was recovered on Thursday evening, while remaining 23 bodies were retrieved early on Friday morning.

The bodies were shifted to Dassu in Army Aviation helicopters. Special arrangements were also being made to take the bodies of the deceased to their native towns and villages.
